Top 8 Rooftop Helipads Worldwide

1. Burj Al Arab, Dubai

The helipad of the Burj Al Arab, the landmark  of Dubai, is one of the most popular starting points of the spectacular flights over the boom town Dubai. Height of this helipad from sea is 212m (696ft), and weight of helicopter that can land on the pad is 7.5 tonnes.

Irish singer Ronan Keating shot his music video Iris on the helipad. In March 2004, professional golfer Tiger Woods hit several golf balls from the helipad into the Persian Gulf, while in February 2005, professional tennis players Roger Federer and Andre Agassi played an unranked game on the helipad, which was temporarily converted into a grass tennis court, at a height of 212 meters. The helipad has no borders or fences on the edges and if a player hit a winner the tennis balls would plunge down to the ground.

US Bank Tower is the tallest building in the world with a roof-top heliport. At 310m (1017 ft), the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles has the highest helipad as of today, apparently all Los Angeles highrises have helipads for evacuation purposes.

The top of the Pemex Tower features high power dishes which are located beneath a heliport. Since the ground level heliport by the building was complete the one on the top of the tower is rarely used, because the wind currents that are generated in the structure are very strong.

Torre Picasso is 157.25 meters (515 ft) tall building, has 45 floors and a helipad on the roof. The superior surface of one of the elevator blocks in the 45th floor is used as a heliport.

  7. These are great looking helipads indeed. I admire the photographers who took the photos on those angles. I wish I could come and visit these places. It will surely be a big achievement.

  8. The concrete restoration of the Minoti Mirai for their Helipad is awesome! The shape is magnificent! That's one of the most amazing helipads I've seen.
